On 13 January 2011, Action for Economic Reforms hosted a dinner for Manuel Montes of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA).
Montes, who is Filipino, heads the Development Strategy and Policy Analysis Unit of the UNDESA and is in charge of the World Ecoomic and Social Survey.
During the event, Montes talked about the weak US economic recovery and its implication on the world economy. His views on President Aquino’s economic policies and on industrial planning were also sought by AER fellows and other guests.
AER has hosted other economists from international organizations, including UN Assistant Secretary General for Economic Development Jomo K. Sundaram.
