BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar – The PH3D team, led by Overall Project Coordinator Victoria Quimbo, paid a courtesy visit to Eastern Samar Governor Ben Evardone at the Provincial Capitol on the morning of November 22, 2021. The objective of the visit is to formally introduce the Data-Driven Development in the Philippines (PH3D) project and to provide updates covering one year since the project inception. The Municipalities of Arteche and Guiuan are the two pilot sites in the province.
The discussions highlighted how data can be a powerful tool to supplement disaster and risk reduction response and management strategies in the two pilot sites. Primary of which are the creation of a data dashboard, mapping of disaster prone areas and evacuation sites through a partnership with Humanitarian Openstreetmap Team Philippines (HotPH) using OpenStreetMaps, and various capacity-development training.
Governor Evardone expresses his gratitude to PH3D team for partnering with Eastern Samar Municipalities.
